Porcelain Veneers: Veneers are thin custom-made shells that are custom made to cover the front of your teeth. Veneers can make teeth appear whiter, wider, longer, straighter and more symmetrical. They can cover permanent stains and repair chips and cracks. A small amount of the surface enamel is removed and impressions taken. When the veneer is completed, it is attached to the tooth with a bonding material. The procedure usually takes a couple of visits but is the best way to achieve a fantastic smile. Tooth Colored Restorations: Old metal fillings that stain and darken your back teeth can be replaced with composite or ceramic materials that are selected to match the color of your natural teeth. These restorations not only look better but are kind to your opposing teeth, wear more like natural enamel and improve the strength of teeth. These tooth colored materials can be used to replace fillings as well as old crowns.
The one exception to our non-surgical approach to peridontal treatment is what we like to call "smile line surgery". A traumatic smile line surgery can be considered to be periodontal plastic surgery. Often times, not matter how perfect the teeth, a smile is not as aesthetic as it could be because of an uneven appearance of the gum line on the front teeth or an excessively "gummy" smile. In those instances where recession of the gum line has exposed too much of the tooth, smile line surgery covers roots and extends tooth life.
